Ohana Matters Educational Foundation is an excellent organization that encourages the kids of Hawai’i to pursue higher education. With part of their mission, being the prevention of the brain-drain, students are being mentored from Ohana Matters. The students can get their education from the mainland and bring their experiences back to Hawaii to share and to give back to their community. I know this, because Ohana Matters helped me, aided me in the College of Technology at the University of Montana, where I plan to transfer to UH in the future. With great thanks to Ohana Matters I can say that my stress level in college finacially, is very low because it helps pay for my books, fees, and supplies. I know that Ohana Matters can help other students in my situation, I know without a doubt in my mind that Ohana Matters is making a difference in the lives of other students like myself.

I am currently attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa as an undergraduate, pursuing a career in Mechanical Engineering. I am grateful to be a recipient of the Ohana Matters Educational Foundation scholarship. This scholarship has allowed me to further my education at the university level. It has opened my eyes to the many wonderful people out there investing their money into knowledgable students who seek high-tech careers in Hawaii. I have set a goal to be the first in my family to graduate from a 4 year college. With the love and support from my family and the help from Ohana Matters, I see myself accomplishing this goal that I have long dreamed of. Ohana matters has allowed me to get my feet wet by giving me the opportunity to intern at local corporations within the state. With this opportunity I have taken the time to give back by mentoring the youth of Hawaii along the windward side. Trying to establish a new beginning within the next generation. I would like to thank Ohana Matters once again for this wonderful oportunity. Aaron I.K Tai
The Ohana Matters Foundation has done nothing less than provide me the opportunity to further my education and help me realize that my dreams are achievable. I come from Nanakuli, a little town on the island of O’ahu riddled with poverty and petty crimes. In this town, not many of its people are allowed the chance to go to college and get a degree in their field of choice. For some, it is their academics that hinder their chances, but for most, it is the financial burden that prevents them from living out their dreams. The times we are living in are filled with financial woe and instability, which is why I am forever grateful to Ohana Matters Educational Foundation for allowing me the chance to follow my dreams, for without them and their generous scholorship, I would not be a college student going for his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, but just another statistic.
